Why do we procrastinate?

Let us first try to understand the meaning of procrastination before we try to find out the reason behind it. Procrastination is the action of postponing or trying to avoid something. When we procrastinate we try to convince ourselves that we have a lot of time to do something which actually is very dangerous for us. It is the main reason behind not succeeding to complete a particular task in time. A person can never achieve what he wants if he keeps on procrastinating. The only thing that comes easily is laziness which is of no use. Anything that is worth achievable requires a lot of effort and hard work.

So why exactly do we procrastinate? Let us find the reasons behind it.

#Stepping out of the Comfort Zone: We always love being in our comfort zone because it gives us a sense of security. Whenever we try something new, we have to get out of our comfort zone which makes us uncomfortable. A sense of fear of failure prevents us to step outside of the comfort zone. We get scared by thinking about it which leads us to not try at all.

#Avoiding Pain and Wanting Pleasure: Pain and pleasure are like two sides of a coin. Both of them are very important aspects of life. It is because of pain that we realize the value of pleasure. But the human mind is hardwired to avoid pain and to run after pleasure. We always keep looking for thing which gives us pleasure and run away from things that might hurt us. A sense of pain is associated with fear of failure. We fear that we might fail in doing a particular thing which will lead to pain. That is why we try to escape from it.

#Old habits: There is a famous saying: "Old habits die hard." which also holds true for procrastination. When we make it a habit of being lazy and procrastinate even in doing the simplest of things it kind of becomes our nature. Such habits require a lot of will power and discipline to overcome.

Thus procrastination might seem pleasurable in the short term but is very harmful for us. We will never succeed in any part of life if we keep practicing this habit. Let me know in the comments below if you do procrastinate and how you are planning to get rid of this habit.

Job or Business?

Job and Business are two completely different aspects to earn a living. However, when the question arises which one is better, it totally depends upon people's own perceptive.
